On the eve of Orthodox Christmas, on December 18 2009, Consul General, Dragan Grkovic visited Serbian classes at "St. Nikolas Cathedral Church" in Hamilton.

During his visit, Mr. Grkovic gave away text books for learning Serbian for grades 1-8 to the 200 students who study Serbian and Religion at the center.

During the conversations he had with teachers, parents and students, Mr. Grkovic pointed out the importance of preserving national identity through learning the mother tongue, especially for third generation immigrant children who want to keep ties with their native land.
